On July 5, 2017, APRNet was formerly admitted as registered Partner in the Global Forum called The Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAR) . The Forum is a unique forum bringing together all those concerned with how agricultural and food research and innovation can help deliver sustainable development. APRNet is now publicly recognized as a Partner in GFAR through the GFAR website: http://www.gfar.net/about-us/partners
GFAR is an open and inclusive Forum, made up of its Partners. The Forum encompasses a wide diversity of views and perspectives among its Partners. By its multi-stakeholder nature, the Forum works through consensus, but we recognize that individual Partners are always free to maintain their own positions on any issues addressed. In the partnership, if APRNet has a particular Collective Actions in mind and is looking for partners, the the GFAR Secretariat may be able to help catalyse such actions. It is however not very clear how GFAR will do this at the moment. The most important aspect of this partnership is in sharing information on what APRNet does that are in tandem with the GFAR interests.
The President of APRNet, Dr. Anthony O. Onoja, who initiated this partnership, said it was a needed collaboration that will improve the quality of multi-stakeholders engagement and research activities of APRNet in the future.
