Dr. Anthony Ojonimi ONOJA, an agricultural economist and a research consultant is the president of Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet). He is a Senior Lecturer and Head, Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, University of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Agricultural Research & Development (IAR&D), University of Port Harcourt. He obtained a PhD at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 2014, majoring in Resource and Environmental Economics in the field of Agricultural Economics. He also majored in Agricultural Finance option in another M.Sc obtained from the same university (UNN) in 1996. He has vast practical experience in capacity building, agricultural policy analysis, agricultural finance/project analysis, resource and environmental economics, qualitative, quantitative, participatory and desk research spanning for over 16 years. His lecturing career started at Kogi State University, Anyigba, Nigeria (2000-2008) where he taught/researched in Agricultural Economics. 

Dr. Onoja had won scholarships, grants and fellowships (both national and international) in the past including a PhD research exchange fellowship in climate and livelihood studies courtesy of the TRECCAfrica (an Intra-ACP) scholarship which he rounded off at Institute of Climate and Society, Mekelle University, Ethiopia (2014-2015). He is a recipient of TETFUND scholarship and Association of African Universities (AAU) grant for thesis writing. He has consulted for Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and GTZ as well as World Bank (Fadama II). in the areas of Climate Change and agricultural productivity, and entrepreneurship development projects respectively. He won an award for outstanding contribution to research and development given by University of Port Harcourt at the occasion of the university's 40 years anniversary (2015). Formerly an Associate Editor for the Faculty of Agriculture based international journal called AJATE, he is the current Managing Editor for Agricultural Economics and Extension Research Studies (AGEERS) journal, Managing Editor, Nigerian Agricultural Policy  Research Journal (NAPReJ) and Editor, Open Access Journal of Agricultural Research (OAJAR). 

He has several peer reviewed publications to his credit including journal articles, a textbook, working paper and chapters in edited book of readings/edited conference proceedings. His areas of research include Resource and Environmental Economics, agricultural finance, econometric modelling, climate change and food security; as well as agricultural policy impact analysis. He has competences in the use of computer packages such as DSSAT, STATA, Frontier 4.1c, SPSS, Limdep, Shazam, E-Views, DEAP-xp, TFP-xp, Minitab, Arc-GIS, Genstat, CCAFS, Desktop Publishing packages and other GIS software. He has also facilitated various development trainings, conferences and workshops. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet of which he is the president), International Association of Agricultural Economics (IAAE), African Econometric Society (AES), African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE) and Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE). He is widely travelled internationally as a researcher. His hobbies include web surfing and blogging; music, watching documentaries, sports, networking  and travelling.
